Why doesn't the Yard Waste Site accept grass clippings?
-
Plymouth residents are encouraged to mulch their grass clippings back into the lawn to recycle the nutrients. At less than 2 acres, the Yard Waste Site is already at capacity and cannot accommodate grass clippings.
Why is the Yard Waste site only open Wednesday-Friday, after 3 p.m.?
-
City staff at the Plymouth Maintenance Facility use the site, driveway and parking areas during the day. To avoid excess traffic conflicts, the site opens for residents after regular facility hours. The site is closed Mondays and Tuesdays so that city staff can grind wood, haul out materials and perform general cleanup at the site.
Why does the Yard Waste Site close at 6 p.m. during fall?
- During early spring and late fall, the amount of available daylight is decreased, especially when Daylight Savings time ends in early November. The site closes earlier during those seasons for the safety of residents who may be backing up vehicles and trailers in the dark.
Is mulch available for residents?
- Mulch is available when Plymouth Forestry Crews are chipping non-infested trees. Residents are encouraged to check the site for current availability.
Are contractors allowed to use the Yard Waste Site?
- Due to the limited size of the site, contractors are not allowed to use it.
