About the Climate Action Plan
The City of Plymouth is in the process of developing a Climate Action and Resiliency Plan, which will outline goals, strategies and actions the city will examine and implement at a city level regarding climate action and community resilience.
The plan is being developed around three pillars- Advancing Equity, Climate Change Mitigation, and Increasing Community Resiliency.
The plan will also have a Greenhouse Gas Inventory, Community Climate Vulnerability Assessments, and an action and implementation plan.
Proposed sections of the plan include:
- Transportation
- Land Use
- Buildings and Energy
- Waste Management
- Water, Storm Water, Wastewater
- Local Food
- Green Space and Carbon Sequestration
The Climate Action and Resiliency Plan efforts kicked off in the summer of 2025 along with a grant agreement with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency funding nearly half of the costs. The city is currently working with a consultant paleBLUEdot to complete the baseline assessments (Greenhouse Gas Inventory and Climate Vulnerability Assessments).
Community Participation
A core component of the plan development is community participation. A kick-off event, three survey periods and community engagement sessions are anticipated throughout 2025 and 2026.
