Crime is the result of the desire to commit a crime combined with the ability to commit the desired crime along with the opportunity to commit the desired crime. For the most part, we have no control over a criminal's desire or ability to commit a crime. However, we can use basic crime prevention techniques to reduce the opportunity for a criminal to commit a crime. Crime prevention is simply the anticipation, recognition, and appraisal of a crime risk and the initiation of some action to remove or reduce it. Below are a variety of informational brochures and resources to help you reduce the opportunity of a crime to occur.
