Volunteers keep Plymouth a beautiful place to live by adopting a park or garden, caring for native plants, removing invasive plant species, sharing your gardening expertise and more.
Adopt a Spot
Residents may volunteer to adopt a park, dog waste station, fire hydrant, storm drain or street to benefit their neighbors and the community as a whole. Adopting these items/locations helps ensure Plymouth stays clean and safe. Visit the Adopt a Spot webpage for availability near you.
Invasive Plant Species Removal
Help eliminate invasive species from Plymouth parks (Spring: Garlic Mustard, Fall: Buckthorn).
Native Plant Garden Club
The city has developed a number of new native planting areas in recent years, and the Native Plant Garden Club is designed to provide an active group of green thumbs to support the plantings. Work at the gardens may include weeding, pruning, planting and more.

Great Garlic Mustard Challenge
Registration is now closed for 2025.
Plymouth Community members are invited to participate in a new challenge Saturday, May 17 - to see how much garlic mustard can be removed from four different parks in two hours:
- Schmidt Lake Park, 11755 50th Ave. N.
- West Medicine Lake Park, 1920 W. Medicine Lake Drive
- Parkers Lake Park, 15205 County Road 6
- Green Tree Island Park, 18915 30th Ave. N.
Participants may learn about invasive garlic mustard, why it matters and how to remove it. No experience needed; bring a water bottle and gardening gloves.
Storm Drain Marking
Mark your neighborhood storm drains to remind passersby that storm water carries leaves and debris, which drains straight into wetlands and lakes untreated and can pollute the water. Flexible schedule; great for families or scout projects. Storm drain marking begins for the season when weather is consistently above 50 degrees. To borrow a storm drain marking kit, contact Water Resources Ben Scharenbroich at bscharenbroich@plymouthmn.gov or 763-509-5527.
