COVID-19 Note: As Minnesota gradually reopens, the City of Plymouth will Water Safety Flyerdelay the opening of its beaches.
Beginning Monday, June 15:

  • Beaches will be open with signage to educate swimmers about social distancing.
  • Buoys will be in place to outline a swim area.
  • Beaches will not have lifeguards on duty.
  • Portable toilets will be on-site, but water fountains and showers will not be available.

Surfaces of shared amenities at parks and beaches are not sanitized. The decision to use public beaches or touch shared surfaces, as well as assume all associated risks, is at the discretion of the user.

The City of Plymouth follows recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Minnesota Department of Health regarding reopening procedures and social distancing guidelines.

As a Red Cross authorized provider, Plymouth offers swim lessons year-round for ages 6-months to adult. Our instructors and Lifeguards are Red Cross Certified.

Water Safety Instructor Training (WSI)

No current trainings available.

Become certified to teach the American Red Cross Swim Lessons. This is a blended learning class that includes both classroom and online training. Must be at least 16 years old before the final scheduled session.

Water Safety Aide

School-year apprentice program for those interested in assisting swim instructors and possible future employment with the Plymouth’s Aquatic Program (must be 14 yrs old and complete 10 volunteer hours to apply).
