Plymouth is a partner city in the Home Energy Squad program. The Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) subsidizes the cost of the energy-saving visit, making it available to Plymouth homeowners at a discounted rate of $70.

Home Energy Squad is provided by CenterPoint Energy and Xcel Energy and is available to customers of both utilities. Home Energy Squad visits are delivered by the non-profit Center for Energy and Environment.

During a visit, a team of energy professionals assesses a home’s energy efficiency and educates the homeowner about ways to save money and energy in the home. This may include the installation of energy saving materials, a blower door test to measure a home for air leaks, a safety check of a home’s heating system and an insulation inspection. At the end of the visit, homeowners receive an Energy Fitness Report that includes a prioritized list of energy improvements and serves as a road map for next steps to make a home more energy efficient.
