Water infrastructure communications have been restored following a cyber attack earlier this week. City of Plymouth crews were able to reestablish the communications connections to all impacted infrastructure Tuesday afternoon and monitored the system overnight. The system is running with normal operations and crews will continue to monitor.

Throughout the communications outage, Public Works crews continued operating the system and Plymouth did not experience any impact to water levels or quality.

Our Public Safety Department continues to work with law enforcement and investigation organizations at all levels to share information and learn more about the nature of the cyberattack. 

Original Update from July 27: Communications outages at Plymouth water facilities, water levels and quality unaffected

Plymouth is making residents aware of an issue affecting communications at two of the city’s water towers and multiple lift stations within the city. The outage began overnight Sunday, July 26 and the cause is suspected to be a cyber attack.

Water levels and water quality are unaffected – the water is safe and there is no need for the public to adjust consumption. The issue is limited to equipment connected via cellular communications within the system, and crews have continued operating as normal through manual procedures.

It appears that the issue may also be impacting a number of cities in Minnesota.
