
Four Plymouth City Council seats will be on the general election ballot this fall – and the candidate filing period is now open. The deadline to file for office is 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 28.
Filing must be completed with the city clerk during normal business hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, at Plymouth City Hall, 3400 Plymouth Blvd.
The following four-year term city seats will be on the Nov. 3 ballot:
- Mayor (citywide)
- Ward 2 council member (southwest Plymouth)
- Ward 4 council member (northeast Plymouth)
- At Large council member (citywide)
Residents may determine the ward and precinct in which they live by visiting the Minnesota Secretary of State’s polling place finder webpage at mnvotes.org.
To file for office, candidates must be eligible to vote, at least 21 years old by the time they take office and live in the district for which they are running for at least 30 days before the election. The top vote getters will assume office in January 2027.
Candidates must file an affidavit of candidacy and pay a $5 filing fee with the city clerk’s office. The deadline to withdraw is 5 p.m. Thursday, July 30. For more information, visit the City Council Filings webpage.
