The City of Plymouth is updating its long-range Comprehensive Plan and invites the community to help shape the city’s future.
Residents, businesses and community leaders are encouraged to participate by attending an open house 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 13 at the Plymouth Community Center, 14800 34th Ave. N. Input can also be shared online at plymouthmn.gov/2050compplan.
The open house will provide an opportunity to learn about the planning process and offer feedback on priorities, issues and opportunities facing Plymouth. The event will feature interactive activities and informal discussion.
Community members can contribute in advance by visiting plymouthmn.gov/2050compplan to complete a survey and use an interactive mapping tool to highlight areas of interest, concern or opportunity. Input gathered online will help inform discussions at the open house.
About the Plan
The Reimagine Plymouth 2050 Comprehensive Plan will serve as a roadmap for how Plymouth will grow and evolve over the next 20 years, guiding decisions related to land use, housing, transportation, parks, infrastructure and more.
The planning process will take approximately 18 months and will be led by city staff, a consulting team, the Planning Commission and City Council, with community input guiding each step.
As Plymouth approaches full development, the planning process will focus on reinvestment and redevelopment, as well as how the city can meet future housing and regional growth needs. Plymouth’s population is projected to reach approximately 91,700 by 2050.
“Community input is essential to this process,” said Planning Manager Lori Sommers. “We want to understand what matters most to the community today and how we can plan for the future together.”
State law requires metropolitan cities to update their comprehensive plans every 10 years and submit them to the Metropolitan Council for review.
