The Winter Maintenance Open House has been canceled for today, Friday, Jan. 23. The event may be rescheduled for a later date - stay tuned!
Community members interested in learning how Plymouth balances environmental stewardship with citywide snow and ice removal are invited to attend a Winter Maintenance Open House 2-5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23 at the Plymouth Maintenance Facility, 14900 23rd Ave. N.
Held this year in recognition of Winter Salt Awareness Week, Jan. 26-30, the open house offers community members the opportunity to learn about the city’s winter maintenance practices, explore snowplows and other anti-icing equipment, and tour the salt brine-making building. Attendees may also take a ride in a snowplow at the event, and children may enter a drawing to win a ride to school in a plow truck. Staff will share the city’s approach to effectively using salt while minimizing its negative impacts on the environment.
The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be available while supplies last.
In case of a snow emergency, the event may be cancelled, as city staff will need to use the equipment for plowing and snow removal. If so, a notice will be posted on the city’s social media platforms and city website.
