City of Plymouth to show free Movies in the Park
The City of Plymouth presents free Movies in the Park in August as part of the city’s Entertainment in the Parks series. Viewings begin at dusk (approximately 8:30-9 p.m.).
The family-friendly movies will be presented on the following Thursdays:
A League of Their Own – Aug. 15
Ballfield diamonds at Zachary Playfield, 4355 Zachary Lane N.
Movie description: Two sisters join the first female professional baseball league and struggle to help it succeed amidst their own growing rivalry. Rated PG.
Before the show: Swing by early for some ball game munchies and fun. Taste of Target Field Food Truck will be available onsite beginning at 6 p.m., and participants may enjoy lawn games on the baseball diamond. Bring cash for food truck purchases.
Secret Life of Pets – Aug. 22
Hilde Performance Center, 3500 Plymouth Blvd.
Movie description: Two mismatched mutts get lost in New York City due to a feud and must find their way home. During their journey, they encounter a vicious bunny who plans to lead a group of abandoned pets on a mission of revenge against humanity. Rated PG.
Before the show: Beginning at 7 p.m., attendees are invited to bring their furry friends – well behaved dogs on leashes are welcome. A photo booth station and caricature artist will be available and attendees may enter to win doggie giveaways. Please bring dog waste bags.
Mary Poppins Returns – Aug. 29
Hilde Performance Center
Movie description: Mary Poppins returns during Michael’s most desperate hour to lend him a helping hand. With his house in danger of being repossessed, she whips up a little magic to remind him of the importance of family. Rated PG.
Before the show: A kite decorating workshop begins at 7 p.m. and free kites will be available for participating families. Kite supplies are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Movies are free to view. The 2019 sponsors include TCF Bank and Hy-Vee.
