Rockford Road, I-494 Phase 1 complete, north ramps set to reopen June 21

Phase 1 of the Rockford Road (County Road 9) bridge over I-494 project is complete ahead of schedule – and the north ramps are set to reopen prior to the Friday, June 21 morning commute.

Phase 1 involved widening and improving the north ramps. The north ramps include the ramp from Rockford Road to northbound I-494 and the ramp from southbound I-494 to Rockford Road.

Note: Access to the northbound I-494 ramp will remain closed to eastbound traffic. (Motorists heading east and crossing the bridge will not be able to turn left onto northbound I-494. To use the northbound I-494 ramp, motorists must come from the east and turn right onto the northbound I-494 ramp.)

I-494 Traffic Shift set for July 8
A traffic shift on I-494 is set for Monday, July 8. All lanes will remain open to traffic but will be shifted around the central bridge pier.

Upcoming Rockford Road Bridge Closure
Demolition of the Rockford Road bridge is set for the weekend of July 12-14. The bridge will be closed for roughly 100 days during Phase 2. More information on Phase 2 will be provided prior to the bridge closure.
