Plymouth’s Bark in the Park set for Saturday, May 19

Bark in the Park event in PlymouthBack for its third year, Plymouth’s popular all-about-dogs event is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19 at the Hilde Performance Center, 3500 Plymouth Blvd. Watch the video on YouTube.

The free Bark in the Park event features dog products, a 1K fun walk, rescue organizations, “pup”arazzi photo booth, dog caricatures, face painting, demonstrations, food and pet supply vendors, small dog races, a costume contest, children’s scavenger hunt and more.

Event schedule is as follows:

  • 10:15 a.m., Bark in the Park 1K dog walk
  • 10:45 a.m., dog sports demonstration
  • 11:30 a.m. dog costume contest
  • 12:15 p.m., dog sports demonstration
  • 1 p.m., small dog races – for dogs 20 pounds or less

The just-for-fun 1K dog walk will wind through the trails around the Hilde. Set to lead the walk are Plymouth City Council members Judy Johnson, with dogs Liberty and Peanut, and Jim Davis, with dog Betty.

Participants may register for the dog costume contest and small dog races at the Parks and Recreation tent during the event. Attendees may also pick up a free Bark in the Park tote bag at the tent, while supplies last.

While the event is free, attendees should bring cash for vendors, products and food trucks. Daryl’s Dog House hot dog stand and Polar Express Ice Cream food vendors will be on site.

Attendees should leash their dogs while at the event. Attendees may use the hashtag #PlymouthBarks during the event to share photos of the fun and have a chance to be retweeted by the city.
