Businesses and homeowners in Plymouth must register alarm systems that are centrally monitored. There is no charge to register your system. Both burglary and fire alarm systems can be registered on the same form.
False alarms are costly. The Police Department responds to thousands of false alarms each year. In an effort to reduce false alarms, the city charges fees for false alarms. Commercial users are allowed one false alarm per year with no charges and residential users are allowed two false alarms.
We encourage those with alarm systems to ensure that their systems are in good working order and immediately contact their monitoring companies on accidental trips to cancel response. The ordinance regulating alarm systems can be located in Section 1155 of the City Code.
