Services for Officer Mathews to Impact County Road 101 Traffic

Post Date:09/12/2017 9:10 a.m.

County Road 101 Closure MapTraffic on County Road 101 in Plymouth will be significantly impacted Wednesday, Sept. 13 and Thursday, Sept. 14 due to the visitation and funeral of Wayzata Police Officer William Mathews.

Motorists are advised to find alternate routes both days.

County Road 101 from 14th Avenue N. to 1st Avenue N. will be reduced to one lane starting noon Wednesday, Sept. 13 and remain one lane through Thursday morning rush hour. All lanes of the same stretch of County Road 101 will be closed to traffic Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. View a map of the closure (PDF).

Local access to neighborhoods that only have in and out access via County Road 101 will be maintained.

The visitation and funeral are expected to draw thousands of public safety personnel from across the state.

Visitation
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13 at Wayzata Free Church, 705 County Road 101. Due to limited parking, shuttle bus service to the visitation of Officer Mathews will be available to the public from Plymouth Ice Center, 3650 Plymouth Blvd., and Medina Entertainment Center, 500 Highway 55. Shuttle buses will run 2 to 9 p.m.

Procession/Funeral
The funeral is set for 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 14 at Wayzata Free Church. Due to the expected high attendance of law enforcement from across the state, the best way for the public to show its support is to line the procession route following the funeral.

No special parking provisions will be available for the public and no public shuttles will be provided Thursday.
